In demand automotive technical staff are being offered the option to work their 38 hours across a four day week at Tasmanian car dealership JMC.
Dealer Principal Kristy Stewart explains how it works across JMC’s dealerships in Burnie, Devonport, Launceston and Hobart.
“So the 38 hour working week which normally spans across five days now spans across four days, so they come in slightly earlier, leave slightly later each day, then every five weeks they get two three day weekends and every five weeks they get two consecutive days off during the week, as well as the weekend.”
Kristy has a message to other employers who might be weighing up going to a similar arrangement.
“I think it’s about what works for you as a business as well as in consultation with your workforce, what works for them, so I think it’s just about opening up the conversation and engaging what your people need and what your people want.”
