Smithton butcher Josh Perry has made it through to the grand final of Channel Ten reality show Masterchef on Tuesday night.
Perry, who has the Instagram handle “Pezza-the-Tassie-Butcher”, was the only Tasmanian contestant in starting field of 22, and now has a 50-50 chance of winning the Masterchef title and walking away with $250,000 in prizemoney.
The owner of Perry’s Quality Meats at Smithton, where he also fattens his own cattle for meat, has proven himself to be the one to beat during the competition’s pressure tests, plating up near-perfect replicas of award-winning dishes.
The 43 year-old butcher said at the start of the series his dream is to establish a plate to paddock restaurant dining experience, which could become a reality after tonight.
The grand final will go to air on Network Ten on Tuesday night at 7.30 pm, with Perry going head to head against 28 year-old Victorian barista Nat Thaipun.
