A Memorandum of Understanding’s been unveiled to create a Research and Innovation Centre at the Launceston General Hospital.
It formalises the partnership between the state government and the Clifford Craig Foundation for a centre designed to attract and train specialists and other health staff.
Premier and Health Minister Jeremy Rockliff sees it as vital for progressing health research in the north and north west.
“By taking this step we open up Tasmania to greater opportunities for investment in research, the centre will also support greater management of research activities.”
As part of this partnership, the Department will employ a Director of Research to develop and run the research program, in addition to a Research Business Coordinator, Clinical Trials Manager and Research Nurse Coordinator.
