Police are investigating the cause of a crash on Stony Rise Road at Spreyton in the state’s North-West on Wednesday morning involving a vehicle and a train.
Around 6am emergency services responded to reports that a Toyota Hilux ute had entered the railway and been struck by the train and pushed along the tracks.
The male driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Traffic diversions were in place with Stony Rise Road closed between Durkins Road and Devonport Main Road.
The crash comes less than three weeks after a crash involving a train and a truck at Westbury, which saw the line blocked for two days resulting in no rail access to and from the rest of the state to the Devonport and Burnie ports until repairs, including 100m of damaged track, were completed.
