Weindorfer Day
Weindorfer Day in Wilmot is approaching on 4 May.
This is the annual community event held in Wilmot on the first Sunday in May to celebrate the legacy of Gustav and Kate Weindorfer. They are the enthusiastic pioneer conservationists whose work led to Cradle Mountain becoming a National Park, preserved forever “For the People for all time” as Gustav famously remarked.
This is a wonderful free community event for families!
This year new attractions include live music in Pioneer Park by Lee Brient, Nurture by Nature botanic art on silk and wool, Sacred Foods of the Cradle by Aunty Kris Schaffer, Vintage cars from Gustav’s era, and great coffee and food. Games of Yesteryear for all ages including hop scotch, marbles, quoits, skipping, knuckles and board games.
The Celebratory Service commences at 10:00am in the Wilmot Hall with a simple ceremony that includes the Mountain Echoes singers .
The winners of the Weindorfer Film Festival will be announced and prizes awarded.
The winning films will be viewed for the first time in public. Selected other films will be shown after lunch in the Hall.
