Hobart Airport Summer Gangbuster

Hobart’s summer airline seats in and out of the Airport is cracking the one million mark to set a new record.

The state government Aviation Attraction Fund’s aiming to even further increase air capacity.

Hobart Airport CEO Norris Carter is finding the incentive’s been assisting some significant expansion.

“We’ve seen Auckland with over 20,000 more seats, the return of flights to Adelaide with Qantas with over 20,000 seats and the extra flights on Melbourne and of course the new Newcastle flights, so a mix of domestic and international routes but generally across the board.”

He singles out a couple of days that are going to be full tilt.

“There are two absolute peak days which is the 26th of December and the 9th of January, both of those will have over 14,000 passengers which is the two biggest days we’ve ever had and on those days we’ll 84 flights, so 42 coming in and 42 going out.”
