Last year’s murder of Tasmania Police Constable Keith Smith has today seen the shooter sentenced to 40 years with 25 to be served before eligible for parole.
Leigh Geoffrey Sushames appeared via video from Hobart’s Risdon Prison in Burnie’s Supreme Court.
The Justice called the shooting murder premeditated and intentional at Sushames’ North Motton property.

Constable Smith was attempting to present a repossession notice on the property.
Police Commissioner Donna Adams spoke outside court.
“We are pleased with the careful deliberation that Justice Jago has given to this matter.
Keith was simply doing his job, he didn’t deserve to be treated and killed in such a senseless way.”
