A 30 year old man has been extradited from Queensland to Hobart, to face what Tasmania Police say are major drug trafficking and firearm charges.
Detectives from Bridgewater’s CIB and the Southern Drugs and Firearms Unit travelled to Brisbane, and with assistance from Queensland Police the man arrived in Hobart today, Tuesday November 3.
He has been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (major), possession of stolen firearms, and unlawfully importing a controlled substance.
He will face the Supreme Court of Tasmania in Hobart on Wednesday November 4.
Tasmania Police Detective Inspector Cameron Bessell said that leaving the state does not mean escaping the consequences of alleged offending.
“Drug trafficking offences are serious matters that can have a significant impact on individuals, families and the wider community,” he said.
“Tasmania Police remains committed to investigating these offences and ensuring those accused are brought before the courts and held accountable.”
Anyone with information about drug crime is asked to report it to Tasmania Police on 131 444 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800333000 or crimestopperstas.com.au
