Medicare reform has been agreed as a priority by Tasmania’s Premier with other leaders at the first National Cabinet meeting of the year.
Specific measures are yet to be announced on how to repair the problems around GP shortages and rising costs where patients are instead flocking to under siege hospitals.

The Prime Minister plans to figure out answers with the states and territories.
“People are turning up at emergency departments because they don’t have other options, we need to improve primary health care, we need to improve access to GP services.”
The federal government will commit $750 million to strengthen Medicare on the release of a report finding it needs major reform.
