Suspicious Fire Investigation Handed to Police

The Tasmania Fire Service says a caravan fire they responded to in the early hours of Wednesday August 12, was deliberately lit.

Crews from Rocherlea and Launceston attended the property on George Town Road at Newnham, called at 1.45am – finding a caravan on fire in the backyard.

The fire took around 45 minutes for crews to extinguish – the TFS says nobody was inside at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

It’s alleged the fire was deliberately lit, the investigation has been handed over to Tasmania Police.
