James Ransone, husband and father of two, has sadly taken his own life at the age of 46. Ransone was best known as Ziggy Sobotka from HBO’s The Wire series, as well as playing the adult version of Eddie in It: Chapter Two.

Ransone passed away Friday night last week after taking his own life according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. It was revealed that Ransone has been dealing with mental health problems for a very long time and even in 2021 came forward as a survivor of sexual abuse, revealing that his former tutor, Timothy Rualo, abused him multiple times at his childhood home over 6-months.

The abuse, in Ransone’s own words, lead to a life of shame and resulted in alcoholism and drug addiction. He became sober in 2006 and was able to go on to have a successful acting career after The Wire.
